LAKE VICTORIA-THE SOURCE

Lake Victoria is located in East Africa has a total area of about 81000 sq kms and a 3000 km shoreline making it the second largest freshwater lake in the world. The lake is shared by 3 predominantly Nile Perch processing countries namely Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Nile Perch was first introduced into Lake Victoria some 25 years ago. It has developed to be its dominate species. It can grow up to 120kg in weight and 6ft in length. It has greyish sided, a brownish back and a light coloured belly.
